More and more businesses recognise events throughout the year that are an important way of celebrating and raising awareness of issues which may affect any of its employees at any time. Whilst as a business you cannot commit to recognising all of them, it may be an idea (as part of your engagement strategy!) to pick some of these dates and plan events accordingly. We have looked at a few notable dates below for the purpose of this blog we hope you find useful. For a full and comprehensive list of all employee awareness days during 2025, take a look at our Client Area.
January through to March
The beginning of 2025 brings with it several dates that may be of interest to your business. In the first quarter of the year we have National Work Experience Week which runs from the 17th to the 25th January. This is the ideal way to introduce individuals into the workplace. In contrast, the end of January celebrates National Fun at Work Day… much needed after a long January no doubt!
February includes events including LBGT+ History Month and National Apprenticeship Week, designed to highlight all things apprenticeship-related. March consists of events including Employee Appreciation Day and International Women’s Day.
Employee Awareness Days from April to June
Moving into the middle of the year, April transforms into Stress Awareness Month. This is instrumental in helping to raise awareness of all things stress-related and the best way to reduce stress too. Likely useful for any organisation to devote some time and attention to we would think. May hosts Mental Health Awareness Week – we have a dedicated mental health in the workplace page where you can find out more.
Then as summer approaches, the 5th June is World Environment Day. This is headed up by the United Nations Environment Programme and is a great way to focus on the environmental policies you follow within your business. Men’s Health Week then runs from the 9th to the 15th June. This has the aim of raising awareness of certain health conditions that affect the men and boys within our society. Definitely a date for the diary.
August and September
There are no employee awareness days of note in July, so we cross straight to August. This month only boasts 1 event in the calendar – Cycle to Work Day which falls on the 7th August. However, September more than makes up for things, with 5 events to choose from – and a real mix there is too! World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th is followed by International Equal Pay Day on the 18th September. The latter looks at the importance of equal pay for equal value work.
September finishes with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on the 26th – you can’t say no to enjoying some coffee (and hopefully cake!), all in aid of a very worthy cause, Macmillan Cancer Support.
October to December Employee Awareness Days
The latter part of the year is packed full of dates to choose from. The whole month of October aims to help people stop smoking via the Stoptober campaign. World Mental Health Day falls on the 10th and both Wear It Pink Day (in support of breast cancer charities) and World Menopause Day (does what it says on the tin!) both fall on the 18th October.
Calling all men… get ready to sport your most magnificent moustache, as November has been renamed Movember! This campaign seeks to raise both awareness and money for health conditions that affect males, with a particular emphasis on prostate cancer.
Finally we end 2025 with World AIDS Day, which is held on the 1st December. This aims to fight HIV and support those currently living with HIV, along with think about those we have lost to HIV.
With so many events to choose from, there are lots of ways you can engage your employees in 2025. And as always, if you have any questions for us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
